How long does the Schwalbe Marathon Plus 700/28mm last?

Initially my commuter bike came with a WTB ThickSlick Flat Guard 25mm tire, while it was quite grippy and I initially liked it, it wasn’t very puncture proof. It had its first puncture after just 1000 km and I kept getting punctures afterwards on a regular basis.

So I decided to switch to the Schwalbe Marathon Plus Performance Smartguard 700/28 mm. The weight difference is clearly noticeable (487g vs 750g) and I could feel the difference when accelerating at a red light.

I’ve been riding it on my commuter bicycle for about 2600 km (25/5/2020) and didn’t have a single puncture.

I pump it fortnightly to 110 psi and ride it on asphalt only. As you can see in the pictures below, the profile is starting to show some wear but I reckon I can ride it another 1000 to 1500 km. So in total, the rear tire will last about 4000 to 5000 km. The front tire shows almost no wear. It will probably last for 8000 to 10'000 km for a 80 kg rider.

I’ve also had quite a deep cut in the tire for the past 4 month and I thought that I have to replace it soon but it keeps on going.

Update 18/9/2020

Today I rode over a nail and it stuck in the outer rubber of the tyre. I kept on riding for about 2 km until I parked the bike and saw that a nail is stuck in the tyre. 3200km so far and still not a single flat.
